Procedure:
- Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and ask how they are feeling.
- Introduce the topic by asking if they know how to count to 1000.
- Show the number chart and go over the numbers from 1 to 1000.
- Teaching (15 minutes)
- Write a number on the whiteboard (e.g. 472) and ask the students to identify the digits and their value (400, 70, 2).
- Explain the concept of place value and how it helps us to write larger numbers.
- Show examples of different numbers with varying digits (e.g. 121, 500, 896) and ask the students to identify the value of each digit.
- Use the number cards to have the students practice counting forwards and backwards from different numbers up to 1000.
- Practice (10 minutes)
- Hand out worksheets with questions on writing and identifying numbers from 1 to 1000.
- Circulate the room and provide assistance to students who need it.
- Conclusion (5 minutes)
- Review the concepts learned in the lesson.
- Assign homework to practice writing and identifying numbers from 1 to 1000.
